FREEDOM & COFFEE

FREEDOM & COFFEE

Based in Wisconsin Dells, WI, Bella Goose Coffee was crafted around the simple idea of coffee creating community. The founders of Bella Goose wanted a place where people of any background or walk of life could find a place of belonging, as well as enjoy a cup of excellently roasted coffee.

The reach and vision of Bella Goose wasn’t exclusive to a little Midwest tourist town however. As our founders traveled across Southeast Asia and witnessed various Red Light Districts, they could not unsee the women and men being exploited. They knew they needed to do something. The experience led them to the pursuit of combining anti-exploitation efforts with what our founders knew best: coffee.

The fight against exploitation is no small venture and is not one we take on independently. We have partners who play a vital role in helping people find freedom, whether it be through efforts like rescue and aftercare or preventative measures like assisting in family strengthening and education.

So how and why does a coffee shop help people find freedom?

Bella Goose Thailand set out to create gateways to new beginnings by having cafes where people could be employed and empowered. By treating team members with dignity, offering work and training programs, women and men are building a life for generations to come.

In order serve people at a holistic level, Gateway, a non-profit movement of Bella Goose, was created. Through Gateway, people who were at risk of exploitation or have experienced exploitation are able to live in safe transition housing and receive social care services in addition to job and skills training.
